Founded in 2021 by a team of AI researchers and computer vision engineers, we began our journey exploring the technical challenge of generating hyper-realistic synthetic faces. Along the way, it became clear that the real problem we were addressing extended far beyond a research exercise. It was one of the most critical barriers preventing the responsible adoption of camera-based AI at scale.

Existing approaches to visual privacy, such as blurring or masking, were falling short. They removed identity, but at the cost of destroying the very signals that computer vision models rely on most, including gaze, pose, behavior, and scene context. We knew there had to be a better way.

This insight led to the development of Syntonym’s Lossless Anonymization technology. Powered by generative AI, our approach removes identifiable features while preserving data integrity and model performance. It enables organizations to use visual data safely, compliantly, and at production scale, without compromising privacy, security, accuracy or trust.
